Quick Answer
A dessert (double s) is the sweet dish you eat after your main meal. Say it dih-ZERT, with the stress at the end. Want more sweet? Add more s!

A Quick Tip About DESSERT
Dessert is the twin of desert (the sandy place) — one letter apart. Dessert has two s; desert has one. The stress moves too: dih-ZERT (cake) vs DEH-zert (sand).
