Who we are
English Teacher Site is an English learning website operated by Khamis Maiouf in the United Kingdom. This notice explains how information is used when you visit englishteachersite.com, use its learning activities or contact us. For questions about your information, email [email protected] or use our Contact page.
You can read our free lessons and stories and use the practice activities without opening a learning account or making a payment. Optional Grow features have their own account and privacy choices, explained below.
Information you give us
Our contact form asks for your first name, last name and email address, with a box for your message. If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any information you include. We use this information to answer your question, investigate a reported problem and keep track of the correspondence. Please do not send passwords, payment details or sensitive personal information.
The form uses WPForms to send a notification to our mailbox through Hostinger’s email service. Form submissions are not currently saved as entries in WordPress, and WPForms’ optional cloud entry backups are disabled. Mail delivery errors are recorded for troubleshooting. Sending a question does not subscribe you to a newsletter or give consent to personalised advertising.
Information collected when you browse
Our hosting, security and content-delivery services process technical information such as your IP address, requested pages, access times, browser and device details, and the referring page when your browser supplies it. We use these services to deliver the website, prevent abuse and investigate faults. The site uses Hostinger for hosting and email, and Cloudflare for delivery and security. Their notices explain their processing: Hostinger Privacy Policy and Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages and activities visitors use. Learning events can include starting or completing a quiz, the number of questions, a score, a suggested starting level and following a next-lesson link. These events help us improve the learning experience; they are not a named student record. Our learning-event code does not send your contact-form message, email address or the text of your answers. Google also processes technical and usage information as described in how Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services.
Cookies, local storage and consent
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. Similar browser storage can remember preferences or activity. The site and its providers may use these technologies for essential delivery and security, optional features, analytics and advertising. The technologies used depend on the page, feature, your location and your choices. Google’s consent mode may send limited measurement signals without analytics cookies when analytics storage is denied.
Browsing this website, continuing to use it or reading this notice is not consent to optional cookies or personalised advertising. Where consent is required, it must be a separate choice. You can refuse consent and withdraw consent you have given at any time, without a fee or a notice period. Withdrawal does not change the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew it.
When an advertising consent message is shown, use its refusal or manage-options controls to make your choices. To change a saved choice, use the privacy or consent settings provided by that service. If you cannot find these controls, contact us using the address above. You can also block or delete cookies and site storage in your browser; this may reset saved preferences or affect optional features. Browser controls and advertising opt-out tools are additional choices and do not replace consent where it is required.
Google advertising and your choices
This website is connected to Google AdSense. When Google ads are served, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to show advertisements based on your previous visits to this website or other websites. Google’s advertising cookies enable Google and its partners to personalise advertisements across websites.
You can manage or turn off Google’s personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings. You can also find choices for participating third-party advertising vendors at YourAdChoices. The advertising message, when available, provides details of the partners and purposes for which it requests consent. See Google’s explanation of data use on partner sites for more information. Opting out of personalised advertising does not necessarily remove all advertising.
Optional Grow features
The site uses Grow, provided by Mediavine, for features such as recommendations, saved articles and subscription prompts. Grow receives technical and page-use information when its service loads. If you choose to sign in, save content or subscribe through Grow, it may also process the account details, email address, preferences and interactions you provide. Grow’s own notices and choices explain its use of this information, including any advertising-related use.
Read the Grow user notice in Mediavine’s Legal and Privacy Center. You can request access to or deletion of Grow information through Mediavine’s Privacy Request Center. If you subscribe to emails, use the unsubscribe link in those emails to stop that subscription. Using our contact form is separate from signing up through Grow.
Why we process information and who receives it
For ordinary enquiries and essential website operation, our legitimate interests are responding to visitors, maintaining the learning resources and protecting the site from abuse. Where the law requires consent for cookies, optional processing or personalised advertising, that processing requires consent. We may also need to process or disclose information to meet a legal obligation or deal with a legal claim.
Information is handled by the services named above as needed to provide their functions. Advertising and Grow providers may process information for their own purposes as described in their notices and consent choices. Providers may process information outside the UK or your country, including in the United States; their linked notices explain the safeguards and choices they provide. External websites you visit through our links have their own privacy practices.
Retention and security
Contact correspondence is held in our mailbox until deleted. Retention depends on whether a question remains open, whether the correspondence is needed to resolve a problem or dispute, and any applicable legal requirements. Website mail-error logs currently have no automatic expiry. Provider records, analytics data and browser storage have separate retention settings and policies. You can contact us to request deletion of information we hold; some records may need to be retained where there is a lawful reason.
The site uses HTTPS and access-controlled administration. No website, email service or internet transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. If a personal-data breach occurs, we will assess it and make notifications where required by the applicable law.
Your privacy rights
Depending on the law that applies to you, including UK and EEA data-protection law, you may have rights to access or receive a copy of your information, correct it, request deletion, restrict processing, object to certain processing and withdraw consent. Some rights depend on the purpose and legal basis for processing. To make a request about information we hold, email [email protected]. We may need enough information to confirm your identity and locate the relevant records.
You may also complain to a data-protection authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). Elsewhere, you can contact your local supervisory authority. For information held independently by Google or Grow, use the provider’s privacy controls and request routes linked above.
Children and changes to this notice
Our resources focus on adult English learners. If a child uses the site, a parent, guardian or teacher should help them avoid sharing personal information. If you believe a child has sent personal information that should not be held, please contact us so we can investigate and arrange appropriate deletion.
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. A change to this notice does not by itself give us consent for a new use of your information.
